Dubba-Ga Tribe

THE DUBBA-GA TRIBAL STORY

This painting represents the tribal area in which the "Dubba-Ga" people lived for thousands of years.
The two major lines which meet in the centre of the painting represent two rivers, the Talbagar River which means plenty bird life, and the Maquarie River which means plenty fish, turtle and platypus.
The round circles in the rivers represent the devils holes, belonging to "Boola" the "Devil" or "Bunyip" spirit.  The tracks around the outside represent  movement from Bora ground (Initiation sites),
also camping areas.  The hand prints represent the signature of that particular area.
The goannas represent a source of food that was eaten by that particular tribe.
